beautiful long hair?

There are always arguments on just about any topic. The one thing that came to mind was the disney movie Tangled. I personally love this movie, as well as my nephew. But there are always debates on what exactly is the message of the disney movies? Tangled is about Rapunzel and how she is locked away in a tower after being kidnapped by a witch and has magic hair. She eventually meets flin rider who is a criminal and they fall in love and live "happy ever after". All disney movies portray an image of a happy life, or there version of the "american dream". This is then showing that it is okay to fall in love with just about anyone because you can change them for the better. Even if they are a criminal. Growing up parents always tell their little girls how they deserve the best and should be treated like a princess. The man they marry will bring home the bread (and bacon if he has a really good job). No where in all of that does it say the perfect man will be a criminal because he can change over night. The argument about disney movies giving an off idea about real life makes sense at times like these. Rapunzel just sat at home all day cleaning, she never left the tower until flin came around. I don't know about anyone else but if i told my mother I was going to marry a excon im pretty sure she would laugh at me thinking it was a joke. As well as if I sat around all day and stayed home, my family would think i was weird and needed some type of help. The point is many parents see hidden messages which make no sense in disney movies, but children are so innocent they just see the happy ever after in it(:

  1. Wow Jessica, I really did not notice this until you said it. Disney does put a lot of hidden messages in movies. I've also heard that they have put hidden sexual objects in the older disney movies. I definitely agree that you can not change someone overnight, and why would you be marry an ex convict. I also like this movie but that message is not good for little kids. Like you said they just see happily ever after and that it is a cartoon.

  2. WOW! I didn't retreive any of this information when I've ever seen any disney movies! Jessica, you've totally transformed a different perspective that is completely true. Another thing stated true is that you CANNOT change a person overnight, unless they themselves choose to :). Lovely post!

  3. These are the types of things i payed attention to when i was growing up. Disney movies always have a meaning behind them and while kids may not realize it as we get older we sure do.
