I sat on the steps in the backyard of my house and heard the noise from all the little kids next door. It has finally stopped raining and all the kids are outside playing. I can’t see them because they’re up front running around but I can certainly hear them. The sky is no longer grey and there’s still no sign of any sunshine, but instead the sky is a beautiful, calm blue and reddish color. It’s one of the little things in life that makes you grateful for your surroundings. These are the days I live for, the rain, the cool breeze every now and then and the after effect of the rainy days. With that comes the never ending chirping of the birds that cannot be seen but without a doubt are heard. Regardless of all the different sounds around me I can’t help but focus on the tree in my backyard. Since the day I moved to this house that tree has always fascinated me. It’s just so big and strong in a sense. I can’t help but feel at peace when looking at it. There’s other trees around, as well as houses beyond the tree; but the tree just stands there mighty. No birds, no falling leaves, and no movement; it’s almost as if it can’t be touched in any way. Just to think this tree started off as practically nothing at one point in history, and now it’s this huge, beautiful tree. I like to think of myself that way, I’m starting to grow into the person I’ll be one day.

comp 1 assignment 1
So I’m Jessica Molina and I’m eighteen years old. I was born in North Plainfield New Jersey and lived there till I was about twelve years old. Then lived in Chicago for about two years. I suffered from chronic asthma and the doctor recommended that we live somewhere hotter. So my mother decided Florida would be the place for us. We moved to Fort Lauderdale and lived there for quite some time. It wasn’t until the middle of my freshman year that my mother decided she wanted to live in Lehigh. So we moved over here and have been here ever since. I have a younger brother named Victor who’s thirteen and an older sister who’s twenty-one and named Mayra. If there’s one person I’m close with it’s my sister and I tell her everything and anything. I also have a nephew named Kenyon and he is seriously the reason for my existing. I love just spending time with him playing soccer, which he loves, or just relaxing at home watching movies. When I’m not at school or work I’ll most likely be with him. He lives right next door to my family and me so it’s perfect and I usually see him every day. Besides spending time with my nephew I love to go swimming, not so much at the beach but the pool. I could just spend hours swimming around doing nothing but swimming. I’m a very social person so if I have free time I love to hang out with my friends. Having lunch or just going shopping with my friends is always something I’m ready to do. I’m really easy to get along with, even though I’m shy at first, but once I warm up to someone I’m ready to be their friend. I just take life one day at a time and the challenges that it throws my way, that’s just basically how I am.
