Year 2041, Class of 2045?!

In the year 2041 everything will be different and much more cooler then our imaginations. Starting off the day would no longer be with an alarm clock, instead it would be a holograph that pops up. It would be your favorite artist or even a family member. Once getting out of a floating bed walking to the bathroom is the only movement you would have to do. Once the door is closed the robot that I would call Gena would do your hair, makeup, brush your teeth and even help you do your nails. Then its off to school for the first day of college. No one has cars anymore, everyone has teleportation devices. They can be in the shape of cars, motorcycles, bikes, and just about anything. They go really fast and are automated so you just sit there and let the device do the work. Once at school everything seems normal; until in the actual classroom, where there is no actual teacher. The teachers work from home and are a hologram in the room. Everything is done by I pads and online. There are no cars just a huge see through bench where all the students sit at can see the hologram and hear it as well. All classes are the same and when meetings or extra help outside of class need to be done you go on your I pad and make an appointment, which can be held at your own home. You just turn on your computer and talk to the hologram that appears through your computer. In the year 2041 everything will be much more greener without the use of cars, papers, and things that can be eliminated and replaced. As well as life just being easier! (:

Skunk Ape..?!

The Skunk Ape tutorial was put together to help students learn how to find valuable resources for whatever it is that they need. It is really easy to get lost when looking for a specific topic and this tutorial helps show students how to narrow down there research and stay on the right topic. It shows exactly how to get to databases and what are the right keywords to use while searching. When starting a paper or whatever it is that the research is needed for it is important to know something. Anything really. So google is an okay place to start but it doesn't end there so that's what this tutorial is basically trying to show, the places after google. Going into this from the start I had no idea what a Skunk Ape was and if it even existed. Although the tutorial is boring it actually takes you through the research for the Skunk Ape which is the cool part about it. Besides not knowing what a Skunk Ape was I also had no idea that it was possible to get the online version of books through the library database from a different school. That is so useful and actually very cool! I also had no idea that it was possible to get chapters of books on the databases. I thought you could only get journals and scholarly writings and newspapers not actual book chapters.  I was glad to know all the information on plagiarism and the works cited as well as in text citation. This tutorial helps me personally as a student feel more prepared to take on a research paper! (:

My Big 5 For Life(:

When writing my blogs I tend to think long and hard about what to write exactly. When thinking about the five things in this life that really matter to me and make me want to wake up every morning to get a day closer to made it a little easier. In a simple list my BIG 5 for LIFE would be:
1. Graduate from college and get my degree
2. Have a job that I love and makes me happy
3. Have a husband and family
4. Travel to Rome
5. Help a complete stranger in some way or form
My big 5 may be strange but they make perfect sense to me. Going to school is not only my dream but my family's dream as well. Seeing me further my knowledge and make something out of myself is a goal that I have always put in front of myself. That ultimately leads to me having a job that will make me happy. Some people tend to have jobs because of the amount of money they make or just cause it is what they are use to. I want to be a teacher and help little children learn new skills and to read and write. Which brings me to my big #3 of having a family and a husband. Growing up and playing house was always something I did, and having a family is a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. A loving husband and great kids that may not be so great at times. I've only been to New Jersey, Chicago, and Florida my entire life. So traveling out of the states is really important to me. I would want to go to Rome because it just seems so beautiful and it is completely different then anything that I know of. Going somewhere far and beautiful doesn't sound like a bad idea to me! The last one on my list is helping a complete stranger. When some people think of helping someone out it usually has to be financially. But I don't mean just financially, to me helping someone out goes further then that. Maybe helping them in a tough situation and just being a friend for them to lean on. Giving advice and pointing them in the right direction, but it can't be just anyone it has to be a stranger. Making a difference for someone else seems like a good idea to me. There are many things I want in life, like my hair to be longer for example, but when taking a step back and actually thinking about what to me are my Big 5 for Life these are the ones and in some way or another I will always be trying to reach all of them. With just the right amount determination I know that my Big 5 for Life will be reached!(:

beautiful long hair?

There are always arguments on just about any topic. The one thing that came to mind was the disney movie Tangled. I personally love this movie, as well as my nephew. But there are always debates on what exactly is the message of the disney movies? Tangled is about Rapunzel and how she is locked away in a tower after being kidnapped by a witch and has magic hair. She eventually meets flin rider who is a criminal and they fall in love and live "happy ever after". All disney movies portray an image of a happy life, or there version of the "american dream". This is then showing that it is okay to fall in love with just about anyone because you can change them for the better. Even if they are a criminal. Growing up parents always tell their little girls how they deserve the best and should be treated like a princess. The man they marry will bring home the bread (and bacon if he has a really good job). No where in all of that does it say the perfect man will be a criminal because he can change over night. The argument about disney movies giving an off idea about real life makes sense at times like these. Rapunzel just sat at home all day cleaning, she never left the tower until flin came around. I don't know about anyone else but if i told my mother I was going to marry a excon im pretty sure she would laugh at me thinking it was a joke. As well as if I sat around all day and stayed home, my family would think i was weird and needed some type of help. The point is many parents see hidden messages which make no sense in disney movies, but children are so innocent they just see the happy ever after in it(:

LOVE for ALL

When ever I'm sitting at home watching t.v there's always a bunch of different commercials that either leave me with questions or just make me want to change the channel. One ad that always gets to me is the one for ASPCA, which is The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Besides loving children and just hanging out one thing that I love is animals. When the commercial comes on and they start to show all the cute little animals it just makes me want to call and empty out my bank. I can't help but want to help these amazing little creatures that are defense less. The fact that the commercial uses this extra depressing song has a lot to do with it too, as well as the pictures which make me want to cry. At first they were not as sad but they did some changes and it was well worth it. I actually called the other day when I saw the commercial and looked up information on it. This ad is made to get the attention of people who love animals such as myself. They do a very good job at projecting the feelings of the animals. Most commercials seem pointless and don't really have anything to do with the product trying to be sold. Those types of commercials make me grateful for having the ability to fast forward through them. But because of this one commercial in specific it makes me want to make a difference; as little as it may seem, helping an innocent creature means a lot in my book.

crazy footprint!

An ecological footprint is basically a measure of what your impact is on the environment and what is needed to support the way you live. It was no surprise to me that it would take 5.2 earths to support everyone if they lived like me. I’ve actually taken a test like this before and got five earths. It would also take 23.1 global acres to support my lifestyle. The thought of this is really crazy and just makes me feel like I am doing something wrong. I turn the water on before I even actually shower, I also don’t recycle a whole lot. These are two simple things I can do to reduce my footprint. I also never knew leaving appliances plugged in still pulls electricity and that is something I will work on. As well as always meeting up with friends at places, if possible instead we can carpool. There are just so many little things that can ultimately lead to a huge change. Not only a change for the moment but also a change for the generations to come to live a “greener” lifestyle.

serenity

I sat on the steps in the backyard of my house and heard the noise from all the little kids next door. It has finally stopped raining and all the kids are outside playing. I can’t see them because they’re up front running around but I can certainly hear them. The sky is no longer grey and there’s still no sign of any sunshine, but instead the sky is a beautiful, calm blue and reddish color. It’s one of the little things in life that makes you grateful for your surroundings. These are the days I live for, the rain, the cool breeze every now and then and the after effect of the rainy days. With that comes the never ending chirping of the birds that cannot be seen but without a doubt are heard. Regardless of all the different sounds around me I can’t help but focus on the tree in my backyard. Since the day I moved to this house that tree has always fascinated me. It’s just so big and strong in a sense. I can’t help but feel at peace when looking at it. There’s other trees around, as well as houses beyond the tree; but the tree just stands there mighty. No birds, no falling leaves, and no movement; it’s almost as if it can’t be touched in any way. Just to think this tree started off as practically nothing at one point in history, and now it’s this huge, beautiful tree. I like to think of myself that way, I’m starting to grow into the person I’ll be one day.
